A cut recording of the first Ballad Session from the 1st of January 1963 in which Sean introduces the Session (said introduction was cut out).
In this session the Ronnie Drew Group, also known as the Dubliners play, also Bobby Clancy of the Clancy Brothers, the Ramblers, Sharon Collen and Séamus Ennis.
First we see the Ronne Drew Ballad Group- later known as The Dubliners singing the The day we went to Rothesay O.
Secondly we get The Ramblers singing Rocking the Cradle or called the Man from Kiando'.
Then we get the Dubliners again, now singing Mcalpine's Men/McAlpine's Fusiliers.
Bobby Clancy then sings The Recruiting Sergeant or Arthur McBride.
Then Sharon Collen sings I Have Seen the Lark Soar High at Morn or Singing Bird.
The Dubliners then play the Donegal Reel
The Ramblers than go to play The Bold O'Donahue.
Ennis Seamus sings An Poc Ar Buile.
Bobby and Sharon then sing the Tiree Love Song.
Dubliners then end it with the Leaving of Liverpool.

Folk songs are one of the most perfect ways to gain a deeper understanding of a language or culture. They carry not just the words of a people, but their emotions, dreams, and struggles—woven into the vernacular and rhythms unique to that culture. Each song tells a story that personifies the spirit of a community, allowing outsiders to glimpse the soul of a people, while also helping those within the culture remember their roots. Through song, individuals are united, memory is preserved, and the essence of a culture is kept alive across generations. Everyone should listen to the ballads of their own nation and of others, for they are windows into the human experience. The singers and storytellers who keep these songs alive should be honored just as deeply as the great politicians, for they carry the heart, not just the history, of their people.
So keep on listening. May those who appeared in the recording above rest in peace yet may their memories live on in eternity.
