A clip from a short lived tv series from 1965-66 called The Rainbow Quest, with its host Pete Seeger, it was devoted to preserve the major songs and ballads of old America. This clip is from an episode dedicated to one of the legends of American folk/blues music Huddie William Ledbetter, better known as Lead Belly (1888*-1949).
Pete Seeger (1919-2014) himself is a national treasure of America and also that of music in general, alongside Lead Belly.

00:33 The Song
The song itself, as said in the introduction, is Lead Belly's opinion and reaction on the city of Washington DC after he was thrown out of a congratulatory party, a party that was held in ''his honor'', for he made the recorder/s of his music some money.
Like most pre 1950s blues singers his music and influence ripples throughout time- not only have his songs been covered by famous bands and artists such as Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, The Beech Boys and Creedence Clearwater Revival. His songs also influenced the people around him, both musically and emotionally, he influenced many and not only those mentioned above, and through those who he influence he may have influenced thousands more.
He is one of the greats, up there with the mythical likes of Charley Patton, Son House, Blind Lemon Jefferson and so on and so forth.
