I decided to get an early start with my new triathlon career and head to Malta for the Xterra off-road triathlon. It is such a stunning island and the course was beautiful, I cant imagine I will get much clearer water in many swims this year.
I was feeling very apprehensive about the swim, as open water with other people is one of my biggest fears, though after a solid winter of training, great advice, coaching and support from the team at Brownlee fitness I felt really well prepared.
Despite a sinus infection and completing a course of anti-biotics just before we got out there I felt really strong and ready to get stuck in!
Again a big thanks to Kim - it was on her birthday and she did a super job filming and cheering me on.
So happy to get this one done and looking forwards to more - hope it gives people an insight into these events and for anyone else nervous about their first open water swim and mass start.
