Driving in the Netherlands: A32, N32 & N31 from Heerenveen to Leeuwarden

In this video you can drive along on the Rijksweg A32 and N32, N31 expressways from Heerenveen to Leeuwarden. The total distance of this journey is about 35 kilometers, which takes you about half an hour to do with current 100 km/h speed limits.

I put some fixed commentary on this video as a test, so feedback is definitely welcome! I have driven this motorway many many times back in my childhood and have seen it change over the decades. We pass two aqueducts on the A32, one on the N31 and one more on the road into Leeuwarden.

The latter 2 have been constructed in the past 10 years as part of the infrastructure overhaul around Leeuwarden. This project also saw the interchange Werpsterhoek being reconstructed. Back in the day there were 2 junctions and traffic lights as the road fed straight into Leeuwarden (2x2). The N31 used to be a single (1x1) expressway West of the city. Now it's been upgraded to a full 2x2 profile.

The N31 is a grade-separated 2x2 expressway from Drachten to Leeuwarden. Just past the exit of Leeuwarden it turns into the Rijksweg A31 that terminates in Harlingen at the sea.
