Automatic collision avoidance uses 5-axis machine motion to avoid collisions involving the workpiece and the cutting tool assembly. The release of PowerMill 2023.1 sees this being greatly improved, resulting in more consistent tool tilting when machining parts that are symmetrical in shape. This improved approach to tool axis tilting should help minimize variation in cutting forces and produce parts with greater dimensional accuracy, and higher levels of surface finish.
