Three years ago today I attempted suicide while extremely intoxicated. Even though I became paralyzed I chose to keep my head up and work hard to achieve independence. The attitude that I had throughout rehab kept me looking forward to the next day of therapy, and I was always willing to push myself and encourage others in my situation.
All of this led to me being one of the recipients of the 2018 Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital's GOAL Awards. I am still incredibly honored and humbled to receive this award, and I hope I can continue to inspire other people in my situation.
