Dr Jessica Randall-Carrick explains how doctors use the Kidney Failure Risk Equation (KFRE) that calculates your risk of kidney failure. It uses your age, sex, blood test (eGFR), urine test (UACR) to establish the possibility of needing dialysis or a kidney transplant in the coming years.
She explains that regular blood & urine tests are important to monitor your kidney function, and stresses the importance of making healthy lifestyle changes to keep your kidneys as healthy as possible.
