Located along the Delaware River lies the Belvidere & Delaware River Railroad. Based out of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, the Bel-Del operates passenger and freight operations to as far as Riegelsville, with both steam and diesel locomotives.

Background on Engine #142:
New York, Susquehanna & Western 142 is a 2-8-2 S-Y "Mikado" steam locomotive built in 1989 by the Tangshan Locomotive Works in China for export to the United States. 142 was originally built for the Valley Railroad in Essex, Connecticut, as #1647. The Locomotive was sold to the New York, Susquehanna & Western in 1992, and renumbered to 142, succeeding locomotive 141 (An S-Y ordered by the railroad, that was submerged in the ocean after its ship capsized during delivery). The locomotive ran mainline excursions on the NYS&W, until the locomotive eventually fell into the hands of the Belvidere & Delaware River Railroad in 2003. Today, the locomotive is owned by the NYS&W Technical & Historical Society, and it operates on the Bel-Del running excursions.
