Q: Where exactly is the ferry terminal in Puntarenas?
A: The terminal's at the far end of the peninsula, past the lighthouse. Just follow the main road (Paseo de los Turistas) all the way down - you can't miss it. There's a big parking lot and ticket office.

Q: How much does the ferry cost?
A: For a car it's about 13,000 colones (around $25). Walking passengers pay 900 colones (about $2). Motorcycles are 3,500 colones. You pay right at the terminal before boarding.

Q: Do I need to book ferry tickets in advance?
A: No advance booking for regular tickets. It's first come, first served. Just show up and buy your ticket there. During peak season (December-April) or holidays, get there at least 2 hours early.

Q: What's the ferry schedule?
A: First ferry leaves Puntarenas around 5:30 AM, last one around 8:30 PM. They run every 2-3 hours. Schedule can change during holidays or low season, so double-check when you're there.

Q: How long is the ferry ride?
A: About 70 minutes from Puntarenas to Paquera. The Naranjo route (different destination) takes about 60 minutes. Plan for loading and unloading time too.

Q: Can I take my rental car on the ferry?
A: Yes, most rental companies allow it. Just check your rental agreement - some cheaper companies don't want their cars on ferries. Keep your ferry receipt for the rental company.

Q: Are there bathrooms and food on the ferry?
A: Yes to both. Basic bathrooms on board, and a small cafeteria selling snacks, coffee, and sodas. But prices are higher on board - might want to grab food in town first.

Q: What's the best time to avoid long waits?
A: First ferry of the day (around 5:30 AM) usually has shortest lines. Midweek is better than weekends. Avoid Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings when locals travel. Holidays are always packed.

Q: What happens if it rains?
A: Ferries run rain or shine unless there's extreme weather. The bay's usually pretty calm. They'll cancel if there's a big storm, but that's rare.

Q: Do I need cash or can I use a card?
A: Bring cash to be safe. While the main ticket office usually takes cards, smaller services (parking, food) are often cash only.

Q: What's the deal with the vehicle line?
A: Vehicles line up on the street before the terminal. There's a guy with a flag who'll tell you where to wait. Don't cut the line - locals get really mad about that.

Q: Can I make a reservation for my car?
A: No regular reservations, but tour companies and hotels sometimes have special arrangements. If you're with a tour, check with them first.
