Mile Marker 4 dive site is a local secret. Located a few minutes walk south of Magic Sands beach it's a great spot for those who don't mind a bit more rocky entry. Depth is about 30-40 ft and the reef is worth checking out. In this video we encounter eels, pincushion star with shrimp, puffer fish, squirrel fish (menpachi) and a nice lava tube cavern to explore. The video provides directions and shows where to enter as well as where to park. Since it's not an official public beach it has the advantage of always being open. It does not have showers or a bathroom which means you may want to bring your own rinse water bottle or head over to magic sands to rinse off.

Overall Mile marker 4 dive site is one of the more popular Big Island shore diving spots near town.
