367 - Blackpool: BBC Songs of Praise by tram in 1998

Описание: In the summer of 1998, Blackpool's trams celebrated 100 years since the first tram to Fleetwood on 1st July 1998. Podbaba Transport celebrated 125 years of trams to Fleetwood in July 2023.

As part of the celebrations, BBC's Songs of Praise team came to Blackpool during the world famous illuminations period and filmed the programme in the Winter Gardens. Bearing in mind the illuminations, the theme of the programme was, quite naturally, LIGHT, as its runs throughout the Christian scriptures so what better way, taking the centenary of the trams into account as well, than to start the programme with Debbie McAndrew and Blackpool Transport's Commercial Manager at the time on board the illuminated Hovertram, number 735 outside Blackpool Tower.

We have managed to save a copy of the programme in good quality and here it is for you to watch from a tramway point of view, from an illuminations point of view and from the point of view of an excellent programme from the Songs of Praise team, directed by John Forrest.
