994 - Blackpool Tramway: Behind the Scenes in Starr Gate depot on Tuesday 10th February 2026

On Tuesday 10th February 2026, Podbaba Transport was invited to Blackpool Transport's Starr Gate tram depot to look at the work going on to prepare the fleet of Bombardier Flexity 2 trams for the forthcoming season.
Our guide around Starr Gate depot was Carl Blackburn whose job title is Principal Tramway Engineer at Blackpool Transport.
We were shown around the engineering areas as well as the main tram depot where a lot of work was going on.
Looking at the Bombardier Flexity 2 fleet:
001AD was in service
002 was in service
003 was in service
004 was undergoing repair in the depot
005 is in the engineering bay awaiting repair - last ran in 2022
006 was undergoing repair.
007 was undergoing repair in the depot
008 was in service
009 was in service
010 awaiting repair in engineering bay - last ran early 2025.
011AD was in service.
012 was undergoing repair and had lost its Pleasure Beach
advert - looks poor awaiting decision on repaint or advert.
013AD was in service.
014AD was in service.
015AD was having a new advert for Central Beach Leisure.
016AD was in service
017 was undergoing repair.
018 was undergoing repair.
