NOVA - S24E16 - Wild Wolves with David Attenborough (November 11th 1997)

Описание: Here’s an episode of NOVA featuring Sir David Attenborough. At the time, it was common for PBS and the BBC to co-produce programs and release them in both the USA and the UK, often with different presenters and sometimes even different edits as part of their NOVA or Natural World series. This one is unusual, however, because the American broadcast kept David Attenborough as the presenter. I supposed that by 1997, he was already becoming well-known enough that American audiences could recognize him. The episode uses the same footage as the BBC Wildlife Specials “Wolf: The Legendary Outlaw.”

This episode was previously made available a few years ago by fellow vintage documentary preserver Rattera, but this new transfer was created using RF Capture and VHS-Decode, so it should be an upgrade over the earlier version. I did run into some issues, as the footage on the VHS was a a bit blurry to my liking. After checking, I confirmed it wasn’t due to the capture method or the particular tape itself but was most likely from the original source used to make the VHS transfer. I did what I could during restoration, so hopefully the result shouldn’t be too bad. It also have crispy HiFi audio.

Unfortunately, 30 sec had to be blurred out to avoid the video getting blocked. But as always, you can head over to my Internet Archive page to download a full copy with less compression and added multi-lingual subtitles!

*The episode numbering of the NOVA series is all over the place when you look online, even PBS seem to have some mixed up.
