In this episode, I take you through my recent 5000m race in Manchester, where I set a season's best of 13:50. Despite battling plantar pain and struggling to stay mentally focused, I pushed through to achieve a solid performance. I'll explain what went well, what could have been better, and how my fitness has improved since my last race.
After reflecting on the weekend's race, I head into a controlled threshold session—8 x 1km @ threshold pace with 60 seconds rest—on the scenic Blueway in Clonmel. Thankfully, my plantar pain held up fine during the workout. While not overly intense, I share how this session is key for building endurance and maintaining fitness.
Lastly, I take you to our local running club's evening track session, where I coach the group through their workout. It was a beautiful summer evening at the track, and I'll share some coaching insights, balancing my training, and helping others reach their goals.
