Over 1,400 years ago, our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would climb this same mountain seeking solitude, reflection, and closeness to Allah. At the top lies Cave of Hira, the small cave where he would retreat for worship and contemplation.
It was here that the Angel Jibreel came with the first revelation of the Qur’an, beginning with the words:
“Read in the name of your Lord who created.”
This moment marked the beginning of a message that would transform the world and guide billions of people for generations to come.
Climbing this mountain today is both a physical challenge and a deeply spiritual experience. It wasn’t easy! But it was a reminder of the devotion, patience, and solitude that preceded the revelation of Islam.
In this video, I share the journey up the mountain, the reflections along the way, and what it feels like to stand in a place where revelation once descended… well at least an attempt because words escape me honestly! May it remind us of the power of reflection, the pursuit of knowledge, and the beauty of seeking closeness to Allah.
