Israel's kings governed as God's stewards and servants, and priests and prophets alongside them were there to guide their righteous reign. Thus, throughout history, a king's rule in Israel was always understood as an extension of the divine reign. And the prophets looked to the reign of the ultimate king one day, a king whose kingdom would be a blessing far beyond Israel's borders. May his kingdom come! Empower, LORD, king's heir and son, let kindness through his wisdom run.
He'll judge all in the fairest light and lift the poor to a fitting height.
Defend the meek with a steady hand, crush oppressors where they stand.
Adonai's reign like moon and sun, to nations let king's justice come.

יְהִי שְׁמוֹ לְעוֹלָם לִפְנֵי־שֶׁמֶשׁ יָנִין שְׁמוֹ
May his name forever endure,
let his mighty name grow and grow.
Let his glorious kingdom come.
יְהִי שְׁמוֹ לְעוֹלָם

בָּרוּךְ יהוה
אֱלֹהִים אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל
עֹשֵׂה נִפְלָאוֹת לְבַדּוֹ
וּבָרוּךְ שֵׁם כְּבוֹדוֹ לְעוֹלָם
Blessed be ADONAI,
The LORD God of Israel,
Who does wonders alone,
May his name forever endure,
יְהִי שְׁמוֹ לְעוֹלָם

As welcome rain in the valleys green, like showers of water, silver sheen.
Let righteousness his days increase, as scattered stars, let there be peace.
From sea to sea, his reign may spread, ends of the earth and every land.
ADONAI's name be as endless day, like a shining sun full of golden rays.

Let desert tribes bow before king's throne, enemies kiss the hem of his robes.
Noble kings sail from the isles afar, bringing gifts, glimmer of the stars.
Let rulers kneel to him, one and all, let the strong upon his mercy call.
God's kingdom prosper in ways untold, let prayers rise from young and old.
