Llyn Ogwen (/ˈlɪnˈɒɡwɛn/; Welsh: ['ɬɪn 'ɔgʊɛn]) is a ribbon lake in north-west Wales. It lies alongside the A5 road between two mountain ranges of Snowdonia, the Carneddau and the Glyderau. Somewhat unusually, the county boundary at this point is drawn so that the lake itself lies in the county of Gwynedd, but all the surrounding land (excluding the outflow) lies in Conwy County Borough.
This is not an easy walk. But once completed you will have a feeling of accomplishment!
And the views are amazing!!
One half of the lake trek is fine as it is the pavement that runs alongside the A5 road.
The next half is a public footpath maintained by the national trust. But it’s not really a footpath. It’s more like a sheep track / dried up river bed / bog.
They’re is also a fair bit of scrambling / climbing over rocks.
Be prepared to wear appropriate footwear & clothing.
Look out for the wooden markers to show your route.
I’ve added plenty of photos of this half of walk to give an insight into what to expect.
Video made using IMovie.
