Lolth, the Demon Queen of Spiders, is a demon lord and the chief goddess of the drow (some myths propose that she was originally a goddess who was transformed into a demon). She displays formidable power and great cruelty with an affection for arachnids. Goddess of Darkness, Drow, Evil, and Spiders, Lolth has, through deceit and domination, garnered the ears of the dark elves and eventually established herself as their foremost deity, keeping them under her thumb by creating a society in which only the strong survive and her priestesses are strongest. Her symbol is a black spider with the head of a female drow.

Lolth teaches her children that fear is strength, while love and respect are weakness. She demands that those drow who will not worship her must be converted or slain. She seeks to kill the weak and reward the strong. Disobedient males and non-drow must be sacrificed to Lolth. Spiders are a holy animal in Lolth's faith, and those who to kill a spider is a cardinal sin. Lolth is so chaotic, however, that her commands are ever-changing and often contradictory, so that those who seek to follow them blindly may meet with destruction.

Lolth's clerics are usually female. There are rare male clerics, but no male is allowed to achieve the rank of high priest. Her clerics wear red and black, and drow tunics and helms. The Spider Queen's sacred animals are (naturally) arachnids.

During rituals, clerics of Lolth are nude or clad in black robes with purple and deep red trim. Lesser clerics wear dark red or purple robes, trimmed with black. Ornate spider-shaped helms may also be worn.

For the Drow pantheon of deities. Forgotten Realms, the World of Greyhawk, or Planescape settings for Dungeons and Dragons.

Lyrics:
In ancient halls where no stars gleam,
Beneath the world, beyond all dream,
She waits upon a throne of thread—
A goddess born of blood and dread.
Her whispers twist the hearts of kin,
Her kiss begins the war within.
Lolth, the Weaver, cruel, divine,
The darkest fate, the deadliest sign.

O Lolth! Mistress of lies, of silk and sting,
You crown the Matrons, make Priestesses kings.
Spider Queen! We kneel and obey,
Or die in the dark with no prayers left to say.

Once Araushnee, light and grace,
Of Corellon’s court, the favored face.
But pride, her venom, bloomed too wide—
She struck at love and fell with pride.
Exiled, cursed, but ever bold,
She forged a kingdom deep and cold.
Now worshiped by the wicked brave,
Who know her gift is chain and grave.

O Lolth! Shadow of blade and web unseen,
You make queens of monsters, and monsters of queens.
Spider Queen! We kill in your name,
And feed your altars with glory and flame.

She loves the knife turned in the dark,
The child’s scream, the traitor’s spark.
To fail is death, to win—a test,
The crueler soul is always blessed.
Her web connects each fate and thread,
A thousand tangled paths to dread.
Obey her law, betray with grace,
Or vanish from this cursed race.

The drow are hers, their lives a game,
Their cities carved in Lolth’s own name.
Menzoberranzan sings her praise,
Through ritual fire and bloodlit days.
The surface fears her sacred host,
For what is mercy but a ghost?
The world above may curse her reign—
But deep below, she rules in pain.

O Lolth! Demon Queen, divine and cruel,
You are chaos cloaked in sacred rule.
Spider Queen! We rise and fall,
Within your web, we are nothing at all.
Lolth! Lolth! Goddess of Night—
We kill, we bleed, we serve your spite.

Threads of fate… blood on stone…
Mother’s voice… speaks alone…
The web is wide… the path is thin…
Trust is weakness… sin is kin…
