Good ol Pappu WDS 4D 19716 of BAMY (Bandra Marshaling Yard) on his way to somewhere with a light load of BOBYN rakes after a trip to Palghar. He used to be CR dude at Kurla once upon a time but now is happy to be in the company of the Rajdhanis and the Ranees of WR.
Affectionately known as "Pappu", the WDS 4D is a class of shunting Diesel powered locomotives in India. A shunting locomotive is used to perform small (but important) duties of pulling empty rakes of various trains to and from the platfroms to the service areas.
This particular specimen belongs to the Bandra Marshaling Yard and is a Diesel Powered Shunting locomotive. This one has a 700hp engine with hydraulic transmission - the only locos on Indian Railways to use such transmission. These were made by the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) starting 1967 -68 - the first one being the "Indraprastha". That loco has been preserved at the National Rail Museum, Delhi
