Just 94.8km from Nairobi, 50.8km from Thika, and 62.9km from Machakos Town, Kithimani sits near the Machakos–Kiambu county border and offers a unique blend of culture, farming, and rural charm.
The name Kithimani means "a well" in Kamba, and true to its roots, the town is home to a majority Kamba community. When you arrive, you're welcomed by locals selling fresh sugarcane by the roadside—one of the area's main crops. The town center is busy with mini-markets, boda bodas, small shops, and a local market that comes alive on market days with fresh produce, cereals, clothes, and more.
Beyond the town center, you'll find peaceful family farms growing maize and beans, and homes made from mud or stone blocks. Kithimani is also home to a police station, a court, churches, and schools—making it a fairly developed rural hub with strong community life and reliable security.
