One of the most often forgotten conflicts of the British Empire, but one that was instrumental in the founding of the iconic British Raj, the Anglo-Maratha Wars were a series of individual conflicts fought over the course of 30 years between the armies of the British East India Company, and the historic Maratha Empire of central India.

What had begun as a simple succession crisis within the Maratha Empire itself, would soon spill over into a widespread confrontation with many decisive battles and famous leaders, including an early foray into the combat zone for the Duke of Wellington prior to his fame during the Napoleonic Wars.
