"Dreaming of Home and Mother" is an 1868 song by American doctor and composer John Pond Ordway. It is most popular in Japan and China. The Chinese version is called 送别 (Songbie, "Farewell"), and the Japanese version is called 旅愁(Ryoshū, "Yearning (for home) in traveling")
The lyrics of Songbie were written by Chinese artist, musician, and Buddhist monk Hong Yi (Li Shutong)
The lyrics of Ryoshū were written by school music teacher and lyricist Kyūkei Indō (犬童球渓)
It was selected as one of the 100 Best Known Japanese Songs in 2007.
It was also played in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics' closing ceremony as a farewell song
