In December 2025, the Public Media Bridge Fund awarded $26 million in grants to stabilize the public media system following the loss of federal funding and ensure that the most at-risk stations don't go dark. 74 local public media organizations across the country received funding through this initial grantmaking cycle, including KCAW in Sitka, Alaska, and KRVS in Lafayette, Louisiana.
At the Bridge Fund, we're proud to support these stations and the essential services they provide in their communities — from reporting on the Alaskan fishing industry to internationally-recognized Zydeco and Cajun music programs. As you'll see in this short film, these local public media organizations are not only an essential source of news, information, and cultural programming, but they are truly woven into the fabric of their communities.
