This video is the highlight film from the 1967 World Series, which pitted the St. Louis Cardinals against the Boston Red Sox, and was won by the Cardinals, four games to three.
It was done by Major League Baseball and is narrated by Harry Caray. Individual production credits are as shown. There's a version of this up on YouTube, but in this one the picture is sharper.
This World Series matched the 100-1 Impossible Dream Red Sox, led by Triple Crown winner Carl Yastrzemski and Cy Young Award winner Jim Lonborg, who claimed the American League pennant on the last day of the season, against the dominating Cardinals, paced by brilliant starter Bob Gibson and speedsters Lou Brock and Curt Flood, and who rolled to the National League pennant.
Rather than recap every game, I'll let this excellent film speak for itself.
A couple of general observations: The field at Busch Stadium was atrocious. Bald spots abounded, painted over in green. Wonder how much was made of this back then ... Were the mid- to late-1960s the height of cool sunglasses, or what? Both the Fenway and Busch crowds were loaded with different sunnies ... Augie Busch's daughter looks like a good time ... Just a reminder - the Red Sox would have won this series if they had injured slugger Tony Conigliaro ... As usual, feel free with your own comments.
