Good Friday.
In the early hours, Jesus is betrayed with a kiss and delivered into the hands of those who seek His life. He is taken from trial to trial, none of them just, all of them cruel. He is mocked, scourged, and sentenced to death. Roman soldiers nail Him to the cross. And yet, in the midst of unimaginable agony, Jesus speaks not of anger, but of mercy: “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”
With His final breath, He declares, “It is finished.” The earth trembles. The veil in the temple tears. And a Roman centurion—who had seen many die—looks at Jesus and says what so many of us still echo today: “Truly this was the Son of God.”
Today’s song is The Miracle by Shawna Edwards. Because that’s what this day holds: the miracle of love, sacrifice, and redemption. On Friday, He bore the weight of the world. But Sunday is coming. And because He rose, so can we. That’s why Friday is good.
