Here is a teaser of the latest developments of our tools for the design of next-generation #eVTOL #aircraft. As I approach graduation, I'm pleased to see my PhD research coming to fruition:
• Development of a novel vortex-stretching SGS model for meshless large eddy simulations.
• Reformulation of the governing equations for the vortex particle method (VPM) achieving a numerically stable scheme.
• Development of a mixed-fidelity interactional aerodynamics framework: https://github.com/byuflowlab/FLOWUns...
• Coupling with PSU-WOPWOP and BPM to predict eVTOL aeroacoustics.
Shown below are some preliminary results with our vortex particle method as we move on to get things ready for publication.
This research is part of a larger effort to bring high-fidelity modeling into the multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) of eVTOL aircraft using vortex methods, funded by NASA, NSF, AFWERX, and C-UAS. PI: Prof. Andrew Ning.
