When Cherry first announced these, my reaction was this is what happens when you move cherry to china from germany. 2nd reaction was Cherry tired of HMX taking market share, made a long pole, injected glass fibers into their nylon to clack. 3rd reaction was stick to mx black, stop fking around Cherry.
Cracked one open, no visable lube at all on stems (thats a good thing), pretty polished. some minor lube on spring top and bottom. To the ear they sound ok, not insane spring ping like normal cherry.
Loaded up the board, ran some monkey type. First impression is they quiet as hell. kind of wobbly/loosey goosey like vintage mx blacks. Remember these are stock though. i never even bothered to run stock mx2a blacks. always L/F/SS them. These are no exception. while there is signature cherry scratch (which is great), they are way too quiet and way too wobbly. The 35g spring weight is hella light, hence my low accuracy and wpm in the test.
any other manufacturer than cherry i would dismiss these switches as trash and give em a dont buy. Seeing as they from cherry i will give them the proper treatment and benefit of the doubt. l/f/ss and treat em like i would mx2a blacks. with a faster spring i may be able to get these to return and clack with some volume after tuning. The long pole isnt really noticable. They basically feel like vint blacks without any treatment yet.
Very pretty switch though. And goated packaging. i love the cherry lasered wooden lids, and glass jars with cherry print on em. That part is nice, will be keeping this packaging.
Stay tuned for further testing, i plan to L/F/SS and bring these up to speed as well as compare em to my harvested old reds. and get these on an alu plate and run em up against mx2a blacks for better idea. Tone wise and scratch wise they are very cherry and pleasant enough to warrant further effort. Stock out of the jar, i would not class these as useable. lol. These 4 jars i got are labelled as made in germany.
