The Bharatiya Janata Party described its progress toward an all-time high of 150 seats in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly on Thursday as a reflection of its development agenda and a victory against the 'negative tactics' of the Congress. In an exclusive interview with Mirror Now, Kailash Vijayvargiya credited the Prime Minister, who had spearheaded the campaign with more than 30 rallies since the poll was announced, saying, "In Gujarat, it is Modi Ji's tapasya (hard work)." AAP's arrival may have served as a trigger, reducing Congress votes, based on the BJP score, but BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya dismissed the possibility. As the saffron camp entered a festive mood as trends indicated that the BJP would be returning to power in Gujarat for a record-breaking seventh term, BJP members danced joyfully. Currently, the BJP holds a 152-seat advantage over Congress, who is in second place with 20 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party has so far failed to reach double digits in Gujarat. With 152 seats, the BJP would set numerous records, including its own.
