K Bharat Sundar born 30 August 1988 in Chennai to S Krishnamoorthi and Lakshmi Krishnamoorthi. He started learning Carnatic Music at the age of 6 from Smt. Gayathri Mahesh. Later, he came under the tutelage of Vidushi Mrs. Leelavathi Gopalakrishnan and her son Sri. G Srikanth for over 10 years. He took special training in Pallavi singing from Sri. J Venkatraman and Sri. Srimushnam V. Raja Rao. After receiving a B. Com and CA Intermediate Course[, he studied for a M. Music (Master in Indian Classical Music) and was a Gold Medalist from the University of Madras. Later he started to train more rigorously under the stalwart Late Sri P S Narayanaswamy and has also been closely mentored by Sangeetha Kalanidhi Vidushi Dr S. Sowmya. Bharat Sundar is one of the most sought after Carnatic vocalists today. He is also A Grade artist with All India Radio and has performed extensively in India and abroad. He has earned numerous awards and recognitions throughout his career.

In this kṛithi, Thyagaraja Swamy worships the garlands of Tulasi leaves as Mother Tulasi ( so very dear to Sri Mahavishnu ). Thyagaraja eulogizes her divine qualities, saying that Tulasi bestows tranquility both in this temporal world and in the spiritual world as well.

O Mother Tulasi, please come to me and protect me, I have always placed my complete trust in your sacred feet alone.

Because you grant peace and comfort both in this world and in the world to come, it is said that Lord Viṣhṇu, the charming wielder of the beautiful bow and the father of Cupid never parts from you, not even in his dreams, O Mother Tulasi, please come and protect me.

O lotus-eyed Goddess (Nirajakshi), Having beheld your soft and tender form, having perceived your sweet divine fragrance, and having understood the greatness of your glory, Lord Viṣhṇu, the lotus-petal-eyed protector of this Thyagaraja is said to lovingly place you upon his head. O Mother Tulasi, please come to me and protect me, for I have always placed my trust in your sacred feet alone.
