Malai Kulfi is a rich, creamy, and traditional frozen dessert made with slow-cooked milk, caramelized sugar, mawa, cream, and nuts.
This homemade kulfi has a beautiful caramel flavor and a soft, creamy texture that melts in your mouth.
It is perfect for summer, special occasions, or after-dinner dessert. You can freeze it and store it in the freezer until you are ready to serve.
You can also serve this delicious Malai Kulfi with Falooda by adding the kulfi on top. It makes a perfect and refreshing dessert combination.

Malai Kulfi Recipe
🥛 Ingredients
Sugar – 5 tbsp
Water – ½ cup
Milk – 3 liters
Bread crumbs – 1 slice of bread
Mawa – 1 cup
Agar-agar – 1 tsp
Cream – 170 g
Condensed milk – 3 tbsp
Chopped cashews
Chopped pistachios
Pistachio powder (for garnish)
For setting:
Ice cream moulds
Aluminium foil
Ice cream sticks
👩🍳 Instructions
Step 1 – Caramel
Add sugar to a pan on very low flame.
Let it caramelize for 6–8 minutes until brown.
Carefully add water and mix well.
Step 2 – Milk Base
Add 3 liters milk and bring it to a boil.
Reduce the milk to half, stirring in between to prevent burning.
Step 3 – Add Ingredients
Add bread crumbs, mawa, agar-agar, cream, condensed milk, chopped cashews, and pistachios.
Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
Let the mixture cool completely.
Step 4 – Setting the Kulfi
Pour the mixture into kulfi moulds.
Cover the tops with aluminium foil.
Make a small hole and insert the ice cream sticks.
Use an ice cream container for any remaining mixture.
Freeze until fully set.
Step 5 – Serving
Dip the mould in room temperature water for a few seconds.
Roll it between your palms and gently pull out the kulfi.
Garnish with pistachio powder.
Store in the freezer until ready to serve.
