What’s Going On at Ferrari? | 2025 Season Breakdown
We can safely say Ferrari have had a terrible start to the 2025 season. Once again, the Tifosi are being put through yet another year of frustration, disappointment—and at this point, maybe even depression. So what’s gone wrong this time? Subscribe to the channel, drop a comment, and let’s talk about it.
A Poor Start to 2025
Ferrari’s start to the season has been nothing short of horrendous. They haven’t scored a single podium yet, and the outlook is bleak. Their best race result (we’re not talking sprints here) was P4 for Leclerc in Bahrain. And honestly, had he not had such a poor start, he might’ve secured at least a podium there.
But here’s the real kicker: Ferrari are already 106 points behind McLaren in the Constructors' Championship. Yes, you heard that right—one hundred and six. They’re even behind Red Bull, who have been underwhelming by their own standards. That says a lot.
What makes it worse is the Australia disaster—leaving both drivers out on slicks in wet conditions? It’s beyond questionable. It’s laughable. And don’t even get us started on the "leakage" radio drama. If your race engineer can’t understand what “leakage” means while it’s pouring on track, how can they understand a driver's needs during high-stress situations?
Not All Doom and Gloom?
Okay, let’s be fair—there are some glimpses of potential.
In China, Ferrari showed pace, particularly in the sprint race. Hamilton took sprint pole and dominated, even making Oscar Piastri look slow. That car clearly has something in it. The issue? They haven’t been able to extract that same level of performance during actual Grands Prix. It’s about unlocking that pace consistently.
Hamilton’s Struggles
Now let’s talk about Lewis.
Apart from the Chinese sprint race, Lewis hasn’t impressed so far in 2025. He’s consistently been 2–6 tenths slower than Leclerc in qualifying. Bahrain? 6 tenths off. Japan? 4 tenths. And in Australia? 2 tenths.
It’s no secret Lewis’s one-lap pace has faded a bit. That killer instinct we saw in Singapore 2018 doesn’t show up as often anymore. And on tracks like Monaco, where overtaking is nearly impossible, poor qualifying is a death sentence for race results.
He still has excellent race pace—as seen in Bahrain and Las Vegas last year—but he won’t be contending for podiums if he’s qualifying P7 or P8 every weekend. If he’s still serious about that eighth world title, something needs to change—fast.
The Car Concept Conundrum
Another major head-scratcher: why did Ferrari completely change their car for 2025?
At the end of 2024, Ferrari had arguably one of the fastest cars on the grid. They looked dominant in Austin and Mexico. The car was fast, reliable, and finally looked like a championship contender.
So why ditch that winning formula?
They started fresh for 2025, abandoning what worked. And now they’re stuck with a car that’s underperforming and unpredictable. It’s already feeling like a write-off in both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championships.
With all the hype coming into this year—Hamilton joining, Leclerc entering his prime—this was supposed to be the year Ferrari finally challenged McLaren and Red Bull. Instead, they're just trying to beat a Red Bull team that’s basically a one-man show right now.
Your Thoughts?
Let me know in the comments—do you think Ferrari can recover? If you’re a Ferrari fan, were you excited for this season, or are you just numb to the pain at this point?
As a Hamilton fan, I feel your pain. And if you ever need to vent, drop a sub, leave a comment, and let’s talk it out.
Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you in the next one.
