This should have been 28 miles, due to bad weather on Friday the course was shortened. Choppy seas resulted in ferry cancellations, so medic teams and some runners couldn't make it over in time for the 8 am start. Instead, we started at 12.00 on an 18-mile course that missed the southernmost part.
The weather at the start was wet, very wet. It cleared by 10k in but it threatened and tried to rain for most of the day. A fantastically scenic and beautiful course, Arran is visually amazing. The only part that I lost my patience on was the coastline scramble south of Lamlash. Very slippy on the shoreline rocks due to the shoes I had chosen. Today was steady running rather than give it everything, don't want to blow up tomorrow
A little disappointed that we didn't get to run the full 28. Secretly happy that my legs are 10 miles fresher for tomorrow and 30 miles fun in the hills and fells to the north.
