Hey everyone! I’m Kalani, and today I’m stepping out of my comfort zone to take on a true British classic: Toad in the Hole! 🐸🍴 If you’re new here, welcome to my channel, where I dive headfirst into UK food, culture, and a whole lot of kitchen chaos. 😅
As someone who’s more used to reviewing food than actually cooking it, this was a wild ride! I had no idea what I was in for—batter consistency, sausage placement, oven drama—you name it, it happened. But hey, isn’t that the fun of cooking? 🎥
In this video, I’ll show you my attempt (emphasis on attempt) at making this iconic dish from scratch. I’ll talk about the history of Toad in the Hole, why it’s such a big deal here in the UK, and of course, whether my version is even edible. Yorkshire Pudding Batter Recipe:
5 Eggs
200 mL Milk
200 g All Purpose Flour
Salt
Pepper
(When I cooked this toad in the hole, I added in an oxo beef cube and a little ground mustard)
Mix all ingredients and chill for 1 hour.
Mix again before pouring batter into pan (OIL HAS TO BE HOT)
