DCI Motorsports Pontiac 421 Tripower Pump Gas Build

This here is a 1966 Pontiac 421 with 1965 389 & 421 number 77 casting heads set up to run on pump gas. Just an FYI, we only use high end name brand parts in all of our builds even our stock builds. It just doesn't make sense to use an off brand part to save a few dollars on the build only to have it fail and have to rebuild it again. In this build we have DSS Forged dished pistons to get the compression down to a more pump gas friendly 9.58 to 1. These are connected to the factory 4" stroke crankshaft with Eagle forged H-Beam connecting rods that we recondition to our spec's. We use Speed Pro performance bearings for the connecting rods and mains and Durabond for the cam bearings. Piston rings are total seal plasma molly with a standard tension oil ring. The valve train consists of a Comp Cams hydraulic roller with 236 @ .050" intake duration and 242 @ .050" exhaust duration with a 110 lobe separation. This is a shelf cam and makes really good mid range TQ and generates adequate vacuum for power brakes. The lift is .520" intake and .540" exhaust with Harland Sharp 1.5 ratio roller rockers. We machined the heads to accept screw in rocker arm studs and used ARP 7/16" studs for increased load stability. Riding on the Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam are Johnson hydraulic roller lifters that have Comp Cams chrome molly 5/16" push rods to actuate the rockers.
