The president's administration has targeted federal agencies directly responsible for supporting local libraries, museums, arts, and humanities for wholesale dismantlement, while canceling existing support previously committed to communities and, at least in some cases, illegally impounding funds. While court orders have paused some of these actions, harm is being felt nationwide.
Watch the Women for Kansas Lawrence/Douglas County Chapter and a discussion of the impacts on our local museums and libraries.
Panelists: Steve Nowak, Executive Director of Watkins Museum of History; Saralyn Reece Hardy, Director of Spencer Museum of Art; Brad Allen, Executive Director Lawrence Public Library; Carol Smith, Dean of Libraries University of Kansas; Julie Mulvihill, Executive Director Humanities Kansas; and Ray Walling, State Librarian of Kansas.
