Real-world data—a subset of big data—is clinical data used for decision-making that did not come from a clinical trial. According to Aaron Galaznik, MD, senior director, real-world data and analytics at Pfizer, Inc, once integrated, the plethora of datasets will allow for a holistic view of disease processes and drivers that will identify patterns of use and opportunities to improve care in different patient populations. The synergistic combination of clinical and real-world data will ultimately improve the personalization of care patients receive.
