“Devotions from Israel” 1 Kings 1

Описание: Solomon was one of David’s sons. He was chosen to be the next king of Israel following David’s death. However, Adonijah, another one of David’s sons, was desirous of the throne himself. With chariots, horses, and 50 men to prepare the procession for him, Adonijah gathered with his supporters at the southern end of the City of David (at En Rogel). However, at the Gihon Spring, Solomon was the one anointed as king. This is how 1 Kings 1:39-40 records the crowning event: “Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the sacred tent and anointed Solomon. Then they sounded the trumpet and all the people shouted, “Long live King Solomon!” And all the people went up after him, playing pipes and rejoicing greatly, so that the ground shook with the sound.”

God called Solomon for this purpose, to be the successor of David on the throne of Israel. God calls each of us with a specific purpose too. While we may not be called to be a “king” or call to a prominent and prestigious position, we are called to be part of Christ's kingdom. Whether our calling is deemed by the world as great or small, know that no calling of God is insignificant. We all play an important part serving within God’s kingdom! We are to be faithful to the call.
