After a thumping victory in the opening round against the hapless Bunnies: • 1996 Round 1 Manly vs. South Sydney , and some fairly easy games to start the 1996 season, the Eagles travelled down to St George for an interesting Friday night clash with the Dragons. Few would’ve predicted these two teams would face up against each other in the Optus Cup Grand Final a few months later.
