Where does a catastrophic cosmic impact event fit into the flood geology timeline put forward by young-earth creationists? Here I report on a newly published paper in Scientific Reports which reveals more about the devastation wrought by the impact in Mexico (The Chixculub event which hopefully I am pronouncing correctly in the video) from a location 3000 miles away in North Dakota. In this paper the authors provide evidence that impact event took place in the summer in North America. They infer this from the remains of plant, insect, and fish remains. The site itself records the very moments in which earthquakes, an impact shock wave and debris from the sky arrived at this particular location creating a powerful seismic sieche waves (I misspoke in the video referring to a tsunami wave and deposit) whose remains provide us with a snapshot of about a two hour time-frame of events locked in 1.5 meters of rock. It is just one of many examples of smoking gun evidence of the reality of this enormous impact in Earth's history. But when did this occur. The scientific consensus is that this took place 66 million years ago and is related a massive extinction event that included the ending of the age of the dinosaurs.
Young-earth creationists insist the world is at most 6000 years old and the geological column is only 4350 years old having been formed by a singular catastrophic global flood. For Young-earth creationists how can they come to grips with the reality of a cosmic impact event taking place? They must locate it somewhere within that singular global flood event. What would the impact evidence look like had it happened at he same time as a global Flood? They need to explain the specific nature of the fossils, glass spherules (which I mistakenly call sphericals several times), increased iridium and so forth that is recorded within a narrow window of the geological column in this site in North Dakota.
I discuss all of this and more in this video.
I share results from two papers from this North Dakota site:

DePalma, Robert A., Jan Smit, David A. Burnham, Klaudia Kuiper, Phillip L. Manning, Anton Oleinik, Peter Larson et al. "A seismically induced onshore surge deposit at the KPg boundary, North Dakota." Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences 116, no. 17 (2019): 8190-8199.
Two Young-Earth responses that I discuss are found here:
Dr. Snelling at Answers in Genesis says "There’s no denying this Chicxulub impact occurred during the flood."
https://answersingenesis.org/dinosaur...
But Clarey at Institute for Creation Research says: "A case can also be made that there was no impact."
https://answersresearchjournal.org/la...
Clarey believes the Flood created all the geological column up to the Quaternary and so the impact evidence is found right in the middle of a vast global flood while Snelling believes the Flood sediments are ending at the K-Pg boundary which is where the impact evidence is found. Both views cannot accommodate the specifics of what happened that day as revealed in the rocks in North Dakota and other evidences from around the world in the geological column.
