This is a real-time, one-take drive-through of Sandy Creek Park, located on B.A. Steinhagen Lake, about 12 miles west of Jasper.
Filmed exactly as it looks when you arrive — no edits, no hype, no sales pitch. Just a slow, honest look at the campground to help you decide if it’s a good fit for your RV or tent.
Sandy Creek Park is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and offers a mix of wooded and lake-adjacent campsites. Most sites include water and electric hookups, picnic tables with shelters, grills, service tables, and lantern hangers. Roads are generally easy to navigate, sites are well spaced, and the park has that quiet, no-nonsense ACOE campground feel.
The park sits on the Town Bluff Project portion of B.A. Steinhagen Lake, making it popular for fishing, boating, and laid-back lake views. It’s open year-round and tends to be quieter than more tourist-heavy destinations, especially outside of summer weekends.
Jasper itself is a small East Texas town — not flashy, but practical. It has grocery stores, fuel, hardware, and a few local food spots, making it a convenient resupply stop while still feeling remote once you’re back in the park.
If you’re traveling through East Texas or looking for a peaceful lake-side stop with solid hookups and minimal crowds, this video shows you exactly what to expect before you book.
We travel full-time by RV after retirement, filming campgrounds and places we stay exactly how they are — learning one mistake at a time.
