Storm Betty to the southwest of the UK allowed for a Theta-E plume of unstable air to move into the SE with values up to 60C although the air was very humid and saturated which meant intracloud lightning was almost impossible to see and storms had initially struggled to electrify on land due to this saturation. Things seemed to kick off after midnight with first some elevated rumbles being heard before the first round of storms came in which was fairly electrically active although the second round seemed to pack the most charged lightning strikes with an incredible positive lightning strike that left a hole in someone's roof and a blown up fuse box about half a mile down the road. It was also the first properly imported storm from the Channel this summer which has been lacklustre compared to last year. I have attached the timestamps of various events throughout the video so you can scroll through.
