The Clutterbug organizing system is one of the most helpful frameworks for understanding how different brains prefer to organize. It explains why some people thrive with visible storage while others need things hidden, and why some prefer broad categories while others need tiny, detailed systems.
In this video, I explore a nuance I’ve noticed when applying the Clutterbug system in real life, especially for neurodivergent brains.
Because even when a system perfectly matches your organizing style… it can still stop working when your energy, executive function, or nervous system changes.
So what happens when the organizing system that works on your best days completely falls apart on your low-energy days?
That question led me to start thinking about something I call adaptive organizing: building a system that can flex with your capacity instead of working only when you're at 100%.
If you want to learn the Clutterbug system in depth, I highly recommend checking out the channel of its creator, Cassandra Aarssen. She explains the system beautifully and provides tons of practical organizing advice.
