Welcome back to Ask Drac About Halloween Cocktails. I hope you had a chance to try the great Halloween cocktails I gave you last week. If not, you had better take a look or I WILL FIND YOU!
Today I wanted to try a few more Halloween themed drinks. The first is the Corpse Reviver (No. 2).
Corpse Reviver (No. 2)
Ingredients:
• 1 oz gin
• 1 oz Lillet Blanc (3.725 carbs) [alternatives are St-Germain for a sweeter, elderflower-forward option or sweet vermouth that can be modified with a bit of honey and citrus to mimic Lillet's flavor]
• 1 oz orange liqueur
• juice of 1/2 a lemon
• absinthe, to rinse
• optional: edible glitter
Instructions:
1. Rinse your desired glass with a little absinthe.
2. Add gin, Lillet, liqueur, and lemon juice into a shaker with ice. pour into glass.
Next, we will move on to a Tequila Cocktail called the Beatlejuice Margarita Cocktail.
Beatlejuice Margarita Cocktail
Ingredients:
• 1.5 ounce blanco (silver) tequila
• 1 ounce blue curaçao
• 1/2 ounce lime juice fresh, if possible
• 1 ounce (light) pineapple juice (1.66 Carbs)
• 1-2 teaspoons edible green glitter gel icing optional
• Black salt for rim optional
• Lime wheel (fresh or dried) optional
• Burned Rosemary Sprig for Garnish
Instructions:
1. Add tequila, curaçao, lime juice, pineapple juice, and glitter icing (if using) in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until well chilled.
2. Wet the rim of the cocktail glass and roll in the black salt, if using.
3. Add ice to the glass and strain the cocktail into the glass.
4. Garnish with a lime wheel and a black and/or white striped straw, if using. Add a burned sprig of Rosemary,
Now let’s try a cocktail from my friend called Frankenstein’s Monster.
Frankenstein’s Monster
Recipe by The Educated Barfly
Instructions:
• 1.5 oz Jamaican rum [Two James Bird Doctor Bird]
• .5 oz Overproof Demerara rum [Lemon Hart 151]
• .75 oz Campari (5.8 Carbs)
• 1 oz (light) Pineapple juice (1.66 Carbs)
• .5 oz Grapefruit juice [white] (1.5 Carbs)
• .5 oz Fresh lime juice
• .5 oz Cinnamon syrup
• .25 oz Maraschino liqueur [Luxardo] (2 carbs)
• .25 oz Pimento dram [Saint Elizabeth]
Instructions:
1. Add all ingredients to a mixing tin with 12 oz of crushed ice.
2. Flash blend or vigorously shake and pour directly into a tiki mug or Collins glass.
3. Top with more crushed ice and garnish with tropical Halloween-themed fun!
Finally let’s try a Hocus Pocus Old Fashioned.
Hocus Pocus Old Fashioned
Ingredients: (Cocktail Version):
• 2 ounces bourbon or rye whiskey
• 1/2 ounce spiced maple syrup (1.5 carbs)
• 2 dashes black walnut or Angostura bitters
• Black sugar or orange twist (for garnish)
• Ice (large cube preferred)
Spiced Maple Syrup:
• 1/4 cup maple syrup
• 1/4 cup water
• 1 cinnamon stick
• 2 cloves
• 1 star anise
Simmer for 5 minutes, then let steep for 10 more. Strain and cool.
Instructions: (Cocktail Version):
1. In a mixing glass, combine bourbon, spiced syrup, and bitters. Add ice and stir for 20–30 seconds.
2. Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
3. Garnish with a twist of orange, a cinnamon stick, or a rim of black sugar for that spooky spellbinding touch.
That’s it for Halloween Cocktails this year. I used reduced carbs at Allen’s request in these cocktails.
