Welcome back to Ask Allen About Low Carb Cocktails
On this Thanksgiving Day, I wanted to give you more Thanksgiving themed cocktails to try. You can try these with family as your wrap up Thanksgiving Day, or after a long day fighting crowds on Black Friday. You can even save these for a nice Holiday Cocktail during the Christmas Season. But whatever you do, enjoy these with family and friends.
The first is a cocktail that blends a Margarita with Apple and Cranberry.
Cranberry Apple Margarita
Ingredients:
• 2 oz tequila (blanco)
• 2 oz apple cider (3 carbs)
• 2 oz cranberry juice (0.6 carbs)
• 1 oz triple sec (orange liqueur)
• Cinnamon sugar for rim (made with sugar substitute)
• Apple slice and a few fresh cranberries, for garnish
• Ice cubes
Instructions:
1. Moisten the glass rim with an apple slice or a little cider, then rim with cinnamon sugar substitute.
2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, add tequila, apple cider, cranberry juice, and triple sec.
3. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.
4. Strain into a chilled margarita glass (over fresh ice if you prefer it on the rocks).
5. Garnish with an apple slice and a few cranberries; serve immediately.
Next is another great Autumn Cocktail that is sure to please.
Autumn Ember Glow
Ingredients:
• 1 oz spiced rum or pumpkin spice liqueur
• 1/2 oz apple or pear liqueur
• 1/2 oz cream or half-and-half (optional)
• Splash of cinnamon simple syrup or honey (optional)
• Cinnamon stick or thin apple slice for garnish
• Light sprinkle of nutmeg or edible gold dust for a glowing effect
Instructions:
1. Fill a shaker with ice.
2. Add spiced rum (or pumpkin spice liqueur), apple or pear liqueur, and cream if desired.
3. Add a splash of cinnamon simple syrup or honey for extra warmth and sweetness.
4. Shake well until chilled and combined.
5. Strain into a glass over ice.
6. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a thin apple slice.
7. Lightly sprinkle nutmeg or edible gold dust on top for a magical, glowing effect.
Next is a great fall themed Paloma.
Spiced Apple Paloma
Ingredients:
• Cinnamon sugar, kosher salt, and store-bought or homemade simple syrup, for rim
• 2 oz. reposado tequila
• 3/4 oz. grapefruit juice (2.25 carbs)
• 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
• 1/2 oz. store-bought cinnamon syrup
• Sparkling apple juice, for topping off (1.5 carbs/oz)
• 1 half-moon grapefruit slice
• 3 half-moon apple slices
Instructions:
1. On a small shallow plate, combine some cinnamon sugar and salt. Pour simple syrup onto another shallow plate. Dip rim of a tall glass into syrup, then into cinnamon sugar mixture, turning to coat.
2. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and cinnamon syrup. Fill a shaker with ice, cover, and vigorously shake until outside of shaker is very frosty, about 20 seconds.
3. Strain into prepared glass. Top off with sparkling apple juice.
4. Garnish with grapefruit and skewered apple slices.
Finally, we have a Mule designed for sitting around a campfire and relaxing.
Campfire Mule
Ingredients:
• 1 1/2 oz. smoked bourbon or whiskey
• 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
• 1/4 oz. pure maple syrup
• 4 oz. ginger beer
• Marshmallows, for serving (optional)
Instructions:
1. Fill a rocks or wine glass with ice. Add bourbon, lemon juice, and syrup and gently stir to combine. Top off with beer and stir again to combine.
2. Toast marshmallows (if using) with a blowtorch or directly over the flame of a gas stove. Thread marshmallows onto a stick and garnish glass.
So, there are four cocktails to share with your family and friends. Or you can just enjoy them by yourself after a long day with family.
