In this video, I share two solo trips that meant a lot to me — one before retirement and one after.

🚗 A Route 66 road trip that became a scavenger hunt, staying in historic motels and visiting diners featured in Guy Fieri’s books — all the way to Tucumcari, New Mexico.

🥾 Walking the final 100 km of the Camino de Santiago in Spain — flying to Madrid, taking the train to begin the journey, and walking town to town until reaching the cathedral in Santiago, the resting place of St. James.

Both trips were very different.
Both were done alone.
And both reminded me that sometimes freedom comes from not having to confer with anyone about the next decision.

Solo travel in retirement isn’t about being alone — it’s about independence, confidence, and simplicity.
