Political crisis has worsened in Pakistan as protests over former PM Imran Khan’s arrest turned violent. PTI fiercely denounced Imran’s arrest and urged people to protest the "rising fascism" by taking to the streets. As Imran Khan’s supporters went on a rampage, several military installations were targeted and torched. As unrest jolted Pakistan, PM Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing a cabinet meeting, recalled 1971 Indo-Pak war. Considering the destruction after Imran Khan’s arrest, PM Sharif compared the prevailing situation with that of fall of Dhaka. Remembering the war which split Pakistan in 1971, Shehbaz Sharif said that “no food was cooked in crores of houses”. Earlier, Khan’s arrest triggered arson, vandalism and clashes as anguished PTI supporters took to streets.
