Chasing the WK&S Railroad for the first time | September 9, 2023

Описание: I paid my first visit to the Wanamaker Kempton & Southern Railroad on the weekend celebrated their 60th anniversary.

Their "Hawk Mountain Line" is 3 1/2 miles of former Reading Company tracks that cut through beautiful farmland in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Excursion trains start at Kempton Station and take passengers to Wanamaker Station where the locomotive does a runaround to reposition for the return trip.

On this chase the motive power was the #734 GE 65-ton diesel that WK&S fully restored in 2010. It was pulling four coaches (three Reading, one Lackawanna), a gondola (LNE), and a caboose (Reading).

This chase combines footage of the 3:00 and 4:00 excursion trains. Although I did not catch it at many different locations, I do plan to return someday to do a fuller chase.
