चुनाव यानी 2021 में भाजपा के नेतृत्व वाले एनडीए 75 सीटें जीतकर ऐतिहासिक वापसी की थी. इसके बाद हिमंता बिस्वा सरमा को मुख्यमंत्री बनाया गया था. हालांकि 2026 का चुनाव कई मायनों में अलग होने वाला है, क्योंकि यह नए परिसीमन के बाद होने वाला पहला चुनाव होगा. निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों की सीमाओं में हुए बदलाव और मतदाता सूची से लाखों नामों की कटौती ने पुराने वोटिंग समीकरणों को पूरी तरह हिला दिया है.
