The Art of the Trailer | Story and Structure. In this video we will be dissecting the elements of a trailer and explore how to a trailer sets up a story through structure.
Also note, that I will be focusing on three film trailers that were great at executing these steps, including Prometheus, The Dark Knight, and the Whiplash trailer.
In any trailer, you have less than two minutes to sell an idea. As a matter of fact, sell an experience, to show that this film has the potential to be a great film. And that’s what movie trailers strive to do. In most cases trailers are executed just like a feature length story. Into Three Acts.
