The Repair Digital Twin Didactic Factory by the Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems and Automation (LMS), University of Patras, Greece, focuses on the repair of fan blades using CNC machining. Each repair can be performed using different CNC programs, each with a distinct energy consumption profile. The objective is to use a Digital Twin to estimate the energy consumption of these programs in order to select the most environmentally sustainable (“greener”) option. To support this objective, an Energy Estimation Digital Twin has been developed and is coordinated by LMS Maestro, an AI-based orchestrator that links sensors, factory systems, and digital twins.
